Promotions & Events Teen Read Week: Turn Dreams Into Reality at Your Library

Each year, Teen Read Week, a national literacy initiative sponsored by YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association), encourages teens to rediscover and embrace a love of reading. Teen Read Week 2014 will be celebrated October 12 – 18, and the theme is “Turn Dreams Into Reality.”

This year’s theme encourages librarians “to spotlight all the great resources and activities they provide to inspire teens to succeed in school and beyond.” Shine a spotlight on audiobooks during your library’s celebration. They’re a great resource for developing literacy and essential communication skills that students need to function effectively in school, their workplace, and life in general. To find out more about why students should listen to audiobooks and how librarians can incorporate them into their collections, download our Why Listen Flyer.

We’ve selected three audiobooks that will inspire teens to chase their dreams and encourage an interest in reading and listening all year long. Check out our Teen Read Week featured collection to find a full list of audiobooks that will make any listener’s dream come true.
