The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) annual conference will be held at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, MD on November 20-23. This year’s focus is on Story as the Landscape of Knowing. Stories saturate our lives, they are the glue that creates community and binds us together around common purposes and values. NCTE is an opportunity to take back the right to tell our stories, to create our own landscapes, and to “talk story” with each other and Listening Library is proud to be part of the conversation.
The learning continues with the Assembly on Literature of Adolescents of NCTE (ALAN) Workshop, which will be held November 24-25. This year’s theme is “Is the Sky the Limit? Using Teen Literature to Forge Connections in a World Increasingly Without Boundaries.” The ALAN workshop features exciting young adult authors and titles as well as breakout sessions. Listening Library is thrilled to sponsor a panel at this year’s ALAN Workshop:
How to Make an Award-Winning (and Terrifying) Audiobook: How a Writer, a Narrator, and a Producer Collaborate, and How Teachers Can Use Audio to Enrich the Lives of Readers and Nonreaders.
Tuesday, November 25 from 9:50 – 10:25 AM
The panel features the Odyssey Award-winning team behind SCOWLER: author Daniel Kraus, narrator Kirby Heyborne, and producer Kelly Gildea. It will be moderated by Teri Lesesne of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX.
