What happened to your MP3-CD audiobooks?
In order to provide the audiobook consumer with the widest selection of titles in electronic format, Books on Tape decided to discontinue our MP3-CD offerings in favor of the more widely used downloadable format from Audible.com. While MP3-CDs have many valuable attributes, it became clear that the downloadable distibution model would become the choice of the next generation of audiobook listeners. Here are some of the reasons that have made downloadable audiobooks so popular:
- Portable digital audio players, like the Apple iPod, are more readily available and widely used then MP3-CD compatible devices.
- Audible.com downloads have stringent copyright protection which deters illegal sharing and pirating.
- Downloadable audiobooks can be delivered immediately, thus eliminating shipping & handling costs.
Because of these factors, our downloadable library continues to expand at a rapid pace. As of the middle of 2005, we have made over 360 recordings available through Audible.com. If you haven't already tried downloading an audiobook, we highly recommend that you do!
