Title Description
When the Shah of Iran is overthrown, that nation's turmoil captures the world's attention. Caught in this shifting world of fanaticism, ambition, duplicity, heartbreak and violent death are the foreign helicopter pilots who have been servicing the oilfields up and down the country. Their one objective now is to make a bold concerted escape, with their helicopters, to safety across the Gulf. Clavell told the story of the three weeks it took them to achieve this in his 1986 bestseller WHIRLWIND. In ESCAPE he has taken out just one poignant thread from that epic narrative. The result is the moving and tender love story of Erikki, the blond Finnish pilot, and his beautiful high-born Iranian wife, Azadeh, whom he loves beyond safety and beyond politics.
"Mr. Clavell is a master writer who studies the subject well and then weaves the story." (Amazon.com)

| An interesting story line. Clavell has had many great great stories of great families. This, on the other hand, is a love story set in a background of the Middle East with the many problems that location gives us. Mr Lee is a new reader for me. I shall look for some more from him. |

| Absolutely fantastic. Enjoyed every minute. John Lee's reading added to the enjoyment. His different voices and accents made the book come alive. |

| John Lee has an extensive variety of voices that greatly enhance the listening pleasure. He is the best I've heard in the 6 years I've been listening to B-O-T audiobooks. |

| I was so pleased to find this Clavell book on tape
I put everything aside and took another non-stop adventure escape with James Lee whose reading is as much of the excitement as the story itself. Both these men are masters of the game. How sad it is that Clavell is dead but what a joy to read, hear, and see his works. This is not my favorite, but it is still a treasure! |
