This book is one of Heinlein's best; however, the reader is one of Books on Tape's worse. I was able to listen to the entire book because I am such a fan of Heinlein's writing. If I see Mr. McKeever's name on another book, I will not rent it.

This book is actually all right, but the recording suffers severely from the poor job of the reader (Larry McKeever), who reads everything with the same lack of characterization as if he were reading the back of the book's dust jacket. He is probably the worst reader I have ever heard. I did listen to the entire recording, both the first and second parts, but this just attests to the quality of the story and of Heinlein's writing, that it can survive the horrible drubbing it receives at McKeever's hands (or should I say lips?).

Wonderful story....An enlightening commentary on societal values, political folly and the importance of trust and commitment... lessons that should be heeded by all generations.
