Title Description It's 1954 and a young fisherman, Carl Heine, is found dead in the waters off of San Piedro, an island in Puget Sound. Police charge Kabuo Miyamoto, another fisherman, with murder. Around Miyamoto's trial, Guterson composes a fugue of memory, guilt and longing, whose themes include the childhood romance between a caucasian boy and a Japanese girl, a land dispute, and the wartime internment of San Piedro's Japanese residents. What emerges is a work that is both suspenseful and beautifully crafted. Recommendations Customers who ordered this book also ordered: 1.
