FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:     Why can't I rent?

Title Description
Any thief knows he can't get fingered for a burglary if no one sees him. So you'd think Freddie Noon, small-time crook, would jump for joy after he inadvertently breaks into tobacco-industry research lab, swallows an experimental serum and becomes completely invisible. It's a thief's fantasy come true...or is it?

Freddie thinks so at first, as he graduates from stealing small appliances to furs and diamonds. But being invisible has its complications: How do you pocket the loot if you're naked? More importantly, Freddie leaves his prints everywhere because he can't wear gloves, either. Soon, he's running from a crooked, scheming cop and tobacco executives who see Freddie as a real asset in jury rooms and closed congressional hearings.

"Wildly amusing and original." (Los Angeles Times)

At first I was thinking 'the author is a bit pretentious', then the tongue in cheek attitude became apparent and I found myself snickering, then giggling, and occasionally guffawing. All in all, an enjoyable book. Light and amusing.

I love Donald Westlake, but this has to be the funniest one he's written. How does an invisible robber ply his craft. Westlake has the answer!

This book should be listed under humor not mystery. A very enjoyable book that pokes fun at government, the tobacco industry and various lifestyles. Westlake, a.k.a. Richard Stark shows his many talents.
