Title Description
People counted on Moon Mathias to solve small problems. But when a telephone call delivers a problem as big as Southeast Asia, he finds himself in new territory.

It's a new land as well for Tony Hillerman, author of best-selling Navajo mysteries. Now he takes us down the back streets of Manila and into the killing fields of Cambodia. Moon's quest becomes confused. Is it for ancestral bones or a shipment of opium lost in the chaos of war? Ultimately, the quest ends in finding Moon, a simple sort of man made mythic in the telling of this tale.

Gripping story that is not really a mystery, but an adventure; and a journey. Great sense of place and time - Along the way we learn about the last days of the Vietnam war and its aftermath. Moon is a wonderful hero/common man. Too bad there were not more novels with Moon as hero.

Interesting, and somewhat educational. The central character's assumption of family duties leads him to much danger, and ultimate success as well as finally coming to some conclusions about himself and his situation. Sometimes lite on the connections of facts to circumstances, the book was enjoyable, and I would recommend it.
