This is the book that got me hooked on Michener. I felt that I really understand the history of South Africa now.

Wonderful book. Recommended by a friend from South Africa who said "read this book and you will understand how South Africa became what it is." Slow to get into it, but then you realize that the early part of the book is essential to understanding everything that follows--right up to the end. If you like really well-written historical fiction, or want to understand the very complex nature of South Africa, this is for you. Rich characters, rich context.
