Editorial Review
A love story, an adventure, an American epic, LONESOME DOVE embraces all the West–legend and fact, heroes and outlaws, whores and ladies, Indians and settlers–in a novel that recreates the central American experience, the most enduring of our national myths.
Set in the late 19th century, LONESOME DOVE is the story of a cattle drive from Texas to Montana–and much more. The drive is a risk, sure, but it's a part of the American Dream, a chance to carve a new life out of the last remaining wilderness.
"Once again, McMurtry spins a yarn about the West–and also about the nature of friendship, of folly, of responsibility, of moral codes and men and their destinies." (The Wall Street Journal)

The definitive narrative of the American west. This is my 5th "reading" of Lonesome Dove. Having been a subscriber since 1984.The entire series on Call and the Hat Creek Cattle Company should be part of the BOT listing. McMurtry has the novel that will be standard classroom fare in the next 30 years.
Kandinsky's reading just adds pleasure to the enjoyment of the book. He brought to life the various characters and their own idiosyncrasy's. Kandinsky was up there with Michael Prichard and Frank Muller as far as readers go. The loss of Kandinsky means the loss of a great voice. He is missed. |

| Frontier adventure and justice made me smile and wince the whole book through. Totally enjoyed this read, but was glad book was over, it is quite long. |

| When I first started listening, I did not think I would like the reader, but after a few pages, I realized that Kandinski is a brilliant reader. No one else could bring out the characters the way he has. |

As a B-O-T listener for twelve years, averaging one to two books per month, I consider this to be in the top five B-O-T selections I've listened to.
Wolfram Kandinsky's reading, I feel, adds to the book's enjoyment. |

This book is definitely in my top ten, maybe my top three, and I listen to a lot of books! The reader made the book come to life for me, I can't imagine anyone else narrating.
This book has it all: US history, adventure, emotional highs and lows, and a love story. Guys, don't let the love story part turn you off. A man recommended this book to me, saying it was one of his favorite books. |

| When I first heard this book using my library's rental, I knew I would one day have to have my own copy because I would rent it at least once a year. I love the book and I love the reading. Kandinsky makes me feel "I am there" and it doesn't get too much better than that. |

| When I go too long without hearing Wolfram Kandinsky read a book, I feel like a friend has been gone too long. I do a search by reader and select one of the books he reads. |

| Wonderful story, but this reader reads as if he has no involvement with the story, and to add insult to injury he lisps or whistles when he speaks which becomes very irritating the longer you listen to the tapes. Have not purchased several tapes I wanted just because he was the reader. |
