Award Winners > Batchelder Award
This award was established in 1966 to honor Mildred L. Batchelder for her outstanding contribution to the art of children's librarianship and also for her influence on children's literature. Awarded annually for outstanding translated books for children. The award goes to the U.S. publisher responsible for the English-language edition of the work. Given by the ALAs Association for Library Services to Children (ALSC) to encourage American publishers to seek out superior Children's books abroad and to promote communication among the peoples of the world.
