ALA Midwinter
Promotions & Events ALA Midwinter 2018: Hear the Latest Audio Buzz, Meet a Narrator, and Find Inner Peace (Really!)

We’re headed to Denver to celebrate libraries, librarians, authors, and audiobooks, and to hear some exciting awards news. We were thrilled to see the recent announcement from the hardworking YALSA Amazing Audiobooks for Young Adults committee. View their fantastic 2018 listening picks here (and see them on display in our ALA MW booth #1725 in the Penguin Random House aisle!). And we’ll be tuning in on Monday morning for the 2018 ALA Youth Media Awards (#ALAYMA) announcements with even more picks that will soon be filling your ALA Award displays!

But before Monday morning rolls around, there is a jam-packed weekend of incredible events to get through! Find audio collection development ideas and listening swag in our booth #1725, plus sign up for our newsletters to be entered to win free audiobooks. And don’t miss these exciting activities at the show:

POPTOP STAGE: PRESS PAUSE— GUIDED MEDITATION FOR LIBRARIANS
Sunday, February 11, 3 – 3:50 pm
Right on the exhibit floor at the PopTop Stage! Practice some self-care at the show and get a free gift!

Meditation relieves stress, soothes anxiety and even helps you sleep—but it can be challenging to tune out the everyday noise. Listening to an inspirational audiobook can help develop your meditation practice. Take a break from the bustle of the exhibit floor to reflect and refresh with a meditation session hosted by Penguin Random House Audio/Books on Tape and Shambhala Publications. An instructor will lead a breathing exercise to relax and center, followed by a guided meditation from respected teacher Pema Chӧdrӧn’s bestselling When Things Fall Apart (now available as an unabridged audiobook for the first time) read by narrator Cassandra Campbell. The first 50 attendees will receive a gift bag featuring a print copy and audio download code for When Things Fall Apart and some other goodies.
